Saif Ali Khan in consideration for Bunty Aur Babli sequel?

Toplined by Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan, Bunty Aur Babli (2005) remains one of the most-loved films of all-time. Directed by Shaad Ali, the comic-caper was a big commercial success at the box-office, with its music being popular even today. After an impressive theatrical run, the film has been garnering huge viewership on television ever since.

Rumours have been rife lately that Yash Raj Films is planning to roll out a sequel to Bunty Aur Babli. Initially, it was being reported that Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan might return to headline the sequel. Later, some media outlets reported that Gully Boy (2019) fame Siddhant Chaturvedi may play the main lead in Bunty Aur Babli 2.

The latest we hear that now Saif Ali Khan, who has done a couple of films with Yash Raj Films before, has been approached to play the lead role in the sequel. Whether or not he has given his nod to the project is yet to be known, but given that the actor has his plate full with several projects at the moment, it looks unlikely for him to accept the offer.

According to reports, filmmaker Shaad Ali will return to call the shots for the sequel. The story has reportedly been written in a way that the sequel requires two leading pairs. The makers are also in the process of roping in Generation Y actors for lead roles.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan recently completed his home production Jawaani Jaaneman in London. Also starring Tabu, the movie marks the acting debut of former model and actress Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaia Furniturewalla. His next release is Laal Kaptaan from the house of Colour Yellow Productions. Saif Ali Khan has also teamed up with superstar Ajay Devgn for a war period drama titled Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
