Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali reteam after 19 years

Superstar Salman Khan and ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali have teamed up after a massive gap of 19 years. The duo last worked together on the 1999 movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful love stories ever produced by Bollywood.

On Friday, noted film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the latest collaboration between the two creative forces. "Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan reunite after 19 years for a love story... The film is set to go on floors soon,” read his tweet.

A statement by Prerna Singh, CEO of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, also confirmed the development. The statement read, “There has always been a curiosity when it comes to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film. While the fans celebrated his recent success at the Mirchi Music Awards with Padmaavat (2018) sweeping the album of the year and SLB winning the Music Composer of the year, they are also awaiting details on his next. Bringing in his birthday, SLB puts all speculations to rest as he announces his next directorial. The magic of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was missed by fans for 19 years and left them waiting for the director-actor to reunite. After Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, SLB and Salman Khan come together in a love story.”

Before Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Salman and Bhansali worked together in the 1996 film Khamoshi: The Musical, which marked the directorial debut of the latter. The Dabangg (2010) star was also seen in a special appearance in Bhansali’s 2007 film Saawariya, which launched the careers of Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
