Salman to release Dabangg 3 in December as Kick 2 takes a backseat?

Fans rejoiced when actor-filmmaker Arbaaz Khan recently confirmed that Dabangg 3, the third instalment of his successful film franchise Dabangg (2010), would begin production in April this year. Salman Khan will return to essay his iconic character of Chulbul Pandey once again, but only after wrapping up his much-awaited film Bharat.

The latest update on the high-profile project is that Salman is planning to release it in December this year because one of his other films – Kick 2 – has been put on the backburner in absence of a good script.

“Initially, Bhai (Salman Khan) thought of starting Chulbul Pandey’s third outing last September, while Bharat is also under production. But since that film spans across many decades and consequently see him sporting different looks, he eventually decided to complete it before beginning Dabangg 3,” a source says.

The source goes on to add, “Previously, December 20 was announced as Kick 2’s release date. But since the script is far from locked, Salman plans to come out with Dabangg 3 on this date. A few months ago, Aamir Khan, who was co-producing Mogul with Bhushan Kumar, had announced that they will release the film on Christmas 2019. But the director and the cast are yet to be finalised after Subhash Kapoor’s exit, in lieu of the MeToo Movement. And, hence it looks unlikely.”

If megastar Salman Khan is indeed arriving with Dabangg 3 on 20th December, get ready for yet another mega clash in Bollywood as Karan Johar’s ambitious fantasy drama Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, is also hitting screens on the same date.
