Sanjay Dutt in talks to play antagonist in Yash Raj Films’ Prithviraj Chauhan?

According to reports, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is being considered to play an important role in Yash Raj Films’ forthcoming venture Prithviraj Chauhan. As the title aptly suggests, the movie is based on the life of Rajput King Prithviraj Chauhan from the Chauhan dynasty, who ruled Sapadalaksha in present-day north-western India.

Reportedly, Akshay Kumar is playing Prithviraj Chauhan in the biopic, while Sanjay Dutt is in talks to come on-board for the character of lead antagonist Muhammad Ghori. The historical, action-drama has been in pre-production for more than a year now. The makers are now looking at beginning production towards the end of the year. The movie will be shot majorly in Mumbai and Rajasthan.

Apart from showing the love story between Prithviraj Chauhan and Samyogita, the biopic will also shed light on some strategic mistakes made by Chauhan, cast discrimination among the backward class of soldiers in the army and much more. Sanjay Dutt, who has played villainous roles in a number of films before, is being considered for the role of the lead antagonist. A leading news portal writes that Sanjay could be seen essaying the role of Muhammad Ghori, who is credited with laying the foundation of Muslim rule in the Indian subcontinent, which lasted for several centuries.

The biopic will be directed by writer-director Chandraprakash Dwivedi who has to his credit such notable films as Pinjar (2003) and Mohalla Assi (2018). Though the makers are yet to announce the project and the lead cast officially, several media outlets earlier reported that Miss World Manushi Chillar has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Akshay Kumar in the film.

An official announcement is expected to arrive soon.
