Sanjay Dutt set to don director’s hat for a historical drama

After having an immensely successful acting career that spans across four decades, superstar Sanjay Dutt is now set to don a director’s hat. Yes, Dutt will be turning director in 2021 with a historical film which is currently at the scripting stage.

Spilling some beans on the project, the actor told an entertainment magazine, “It’s a historical film. It’s about my ancestors – the Mohyals. They were the Hussaini Kshatriya Brahmins who fought the War of Karbala for the grandson of the Prophet.”

Though the entire cast is yet to be locked, Dutt has decided to play an important role in the film. Talking about his character, the actor said, “I will be playing Rahib Sin Datt who led the Mohyals. The film is currently in the writing process, as we will have to take permissions and work out the logistics.”

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt is presently busy promoting his next film, Kalank. The multi-starrer film, which also features Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles, is set to enter theatres on 17th April.

After the release of Kalank, Dutt will be seen in his home production, Prasthaanam. The film is an official remake of Telugu cult classic Prasthanam (2010) and also stars Ali Fazal, Manisha Koirala and Amyra Dastur.
