Sanjay Dutt ventures into Marathi film production

Superstar Sanjay Dutt, who also owns a production house called Sanjay Dutt Productions, has ventured into Marathi film production. The actor, last seen in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s dud Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 (2018), is set to bankroll his first Marathi movie.

To be helmed by Raj Gupta, the movie is yet to lock its title. Talking about the cast, it stars the likes of Deepak Dobriyal, Nandita Dhuri, Abhijeet Khandkekar, Spruha Joshi, Chittaranjan Giri and Aryan Menghji.


Excited Sanjay Dutt took to his Twitter handle to share the news with his fans and well-wishers. “Ecstatic to announce @SanjayDuttsProd's 1st venture into Marathi films alongside @bluemustangcs, yet untitled. Directed by @rajguptalovesu, starring the talented @DeepakDobriyal #NanditaDhuri #AbhijeetKhandkekar @spruhavarad #ChittaranjanGiri & #AryanMenghji@maanayata_dutt,” read his tweet.

Meanwhile, Sanjay is presently shooting for Dharma Productions’ next Kalank, which also stars Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles.

His next as a producer will be a Hindi film called Prasthaanam, which is an official remake of the hit Telugu-language political thriller of the same name. Besides producing the movie, he also plays an important role in it. Manisha Koirala, Ali Fazal and Amyra Dastur are also in the star cast.

Chetan Bhagat says fame in Bollywood can take a serious toll on mental health. The bestselling author, whose novels like 3 Idiots and Kai Po Che! became major films, explained that many actors and directors struggle when their work doesn’t succeed. “There are actors who, when going to a restaurant, if they aren’t recognised, don’t enjoy the meal. They wonder, ‘No one came to click photos?’ Can you imagine what a sick life that is?” he said.

Bhagat added that the pressure of attention and constant public scrutiny can worsen insecurity. He recalled seeing stars fade over time, their mental health affected by the highs and lows of fame.
