Shah Rukh Khan’s space odyssey film titled Saare Jahaan Se Achcha

Sidharth Roy Kapur, who is set to release an array of interesting movies made under his banner Roy Kapur Films, has confirmed that his hotly anticipated space odyssey film, which is a biopic on the first Indian astronaut, Rakesh Sharma, will be called Saare Jahaan Se Achcha.

Earlier, the project was unofficially called Salute. Though Kapur is yet to announce the cast of the film, it has been widely reported over the months that superstar Shah Rukh Khan has agreed to play Rakesh Sharma in the big-ticket project.

Saare Jahaan Se Achcha will be helmed by Mahesh Mathai who has previously directed Bhopal Express (1999). It has been written by Anjum Rajabali who has such successful films to his credit as Ghulam (1998), Pukar (2000), Raajneeti (2018) and Satyagraha (2013).

The film will be jointly produced by Sidharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films and Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Films. Kapur reveals that his movie will be headlined by an A-list cast, the announcement of which will be made by the year-end.

Saare Jahaan Se Achcha is expected to begin production in February, next year.

More details are awaited.
