Shahid Kapoor to join forces with Raj Kumar Gupta

Shahid Kapoor is currently riding high on the humongous success of his latest film Kabir Singh (2019). The movie, which is an official remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy (2017), hit screens on 21st June and is still running in several cinemas across the country. With an impressive collection of more than ₹ 275 crores, Kabir Singh has turned out to be the biggest film of Shahid Kapoor’s filmography.

After Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor has not signed any new project. Though his name has been associated with some films, the actor recently confirmed having no film in his pocket right now. The latest buzz, however, has it that Kapoor is being considered by renowned filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta for his next directorial venture.

According to reports, Shahid Kapoor is flooded with multiple offers post the success of Kabir Singh. It depends on the actor which one he picks up as his next. Raj Kumar Gupta is currently planning his next film which will be based on a real-life story. He will approach the actor once he is done with the script of the movie.

“Shahid has become the go-to guy for producers and directors after Kabir Singh. It’s surprising how it took everyone one big film to notice his talent when he has been doing some wonderful cinema all along. Among the many offers Shahid is considering, is a film that will be helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta. The film is still in the ideation stage and the director is getting the script in place before formally making an offer to Shahid. He just knows the concept of the movie, which is yet again a real-life drama and he will decide on the film only after hearing a narration,” reveals a source close to the development.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor has also been approached for the official remake of yet another Telugu film called Jersey (2019). Dharma Productions is bankrolling the project. Reportedly, Kapoor has demanded a humongous ₹ 40 crores to topline the project. It will be interesting to see if the makers agree to his demand or scout for some other actor.
