Shilpa Shetty determined to make a comeback to films

It has been more than a decade since Shilpa Shetty has not been seen on celluloid in a leading role. Her last film as the female lead was Anil Sharma’s Apne (2007) where she shared the screen space with the likes of Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Katrina Kaif. After Apne, she did a special song in Dharma Productions’ much-loved film Dostana (2008) followed by yet another special song appearance in her home production Dishkiyaoon (2014).

Though Shilpa Shetty has not done any film in the past decade, she ensured that she remains very much present with audiences and ever goes out of sight. She has judged three successful seasons of Sony Entertainment Television’s popular kids dance reality show Super Dancer along with spreading awareness about fitness with her health and fitness videos and programmes.

However, her diehard fans still want to see her on the big screen once again. And it looks like Shilpa does not want to disappoint them. During her recent interaction with media, when the gorgeous actress and fitness enthusiast was asked about the same, she suggested that she is considering making a comeback soon.

“I have five scripts and I need to make a decision whether I want to do so many things or not because I am already too occupied; I need to figure that out. I am definitely going to do a film,” the actress said.

Meanwhile, buzz has it that Shilpa has already given her nod to play a pivotal role in an upcoming romantic comedy. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles. An official confirmation is awaited though.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
