Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo to now release in 2020

Renowned filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s next directorial venture Gulabo Sitabo has been postponed to 2020. Earlier scheduled to hit the marquee in the month of November this year, the movie will now enter theatres on 24th April, 2020.

When Shoojit Sircar announced that he had signed on Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana to headline his next directorial, there was huge anticipation for the film. The audience was excited to see the magic that the pairing of Big B and Ayushmann Khurrana can weave on the silver screen. However, people will have to wait a little longer for the quirky film, as Gulabo Sitabo has now been pushed to 2020.

Confirming the new release date of Gulabo Sitabo, well-known film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on his Twitter handle, “Release date finalized! Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana and Shoojit Sircar’s quirky family comedy Gulabo Sitabo to release on 24 April 2020. Written by Juhi Chaturvedi, produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.”

Gulabo Sitabo reunites Ayushmann Khurrana with Shoojit Sircar after a huge gap of 7 years. Khurrana made his acting debut with Sircar’s critically and commercially successful film, Vicky Donor (2012), which went on to win several awards at various award functions.

Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, has joined forces with the filmmaker after a gap of four years. He last worked with him on the widely acclaimed film, Piku (2015), which also starred Deepika Padukone in an important role.

Shoojit Sircar is currently busy with his upcoming film, Udham Singh. Starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, the movie is a biopic on revolutionary Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O' Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of Punjab in India, on 13 March 1940. The assassination was in revenge for the massacre of Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar in 1919.
