Sonam Kapoor to headline the remake of a Korean film?

If truth is to be told, 2019 has not turn out to be quite a successful year for actress Sonam Kapoor. The actress saw the release of two films in 2019 – Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and The Zoya Factor – but both of them fell flat at the box-office. Though her performance in both the outing were lauded by critics as well as audiences, they incurred heavy losses for the producers.

Fans are now waiting to hear about her next project and it looks like they will not have to wait too long. According to reports, Sonam Kapoor is set to headline the remake of a superhit South Korean film. Well-known producer-director Sujoy Ghosh is producing the project in association with Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. One of Sujoy Ghosh’s associates will make his directorial debut with the yet-to-be-titled film.

Not just the female lead, the makers have also locked the actor who will play the male lead in the film. Reportedly, Vikrant Massey has been roped in to play an important character in the movie. The actor, who is known for playing unconventional roles in movies and web-shows, is currently awaiting the release of his next film Chhapaak.

Directed by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the upcoming film also stars Deepika Padukone. The actress plays the role of an acid attack survivor in the movie. Chhapaak, presented by Fox Star Studios, is set to enter theatres on 10th January 2020.
