Sonam Kapoor Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s first choice for Munnabhai 3

With sexual harassment allegations against filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani still being investigated, preparations for the next instalment of the superhit film franchise Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. have begun in full swing at Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films.

If reports are to be believed, Sonam Kapoor might bag the female lead in Munna Bhai 3. The actress is presently busy promoting her next Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, which has been bankrolled by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Reportedly, Sonam reminds Chopra of Manisha Koirala who played the female lead in his cult film 1942: A Love Story (1994) and hence he wants her to play the female lead in his next production Munna Bhai 3.

“Sonam in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga reminds Vinod Chopra of Manisha Koirala in 1942: A Love Story. He is completely in favour of casting Sonam in the next Munnabhai film,” a source divulges.

Sonam played a brief role in Chopra’s last release Sanju (2018). “It was a brief role and Vinod had promised her a more substantial part in his next. He kept his word by giving Sonam the protagonist’s part in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. Now he wants to work again with her”.

Also starring Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is directed by Chopra’s sister Shelly Chopra who marks her directorial debut with the film. It is slated to roll into cinemas on 1st February.
