Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is unstoppable at the box office

Toplined by Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh and Nushrat Bharucha, romcom Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has taken the box office by storm, going far beyond the expectations of trade pundits. The film, which hit the silver screen on 23rd February 2018, has pulled in an impressive INR 26.57 crore at Indian box office within three days of its release.

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was always expected to perform well simply because it was coming from the stable of filmmaker Luv Ranjan who has attained mastery over presenting complexities of modern relationships on the big screen in the simplest form. His previous outings, Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, are a screaming example of that. But the way the film has been performing at the ticket window from the day one of its release is something no one had expected.

Made on a moderate budget of INR 30 crore, the film netted INR 6.42 crore on its opening day. Bettering its collection on Day 2, the movie went on to add another INR 9.34 crore to its kitty. It showed a huge jump on Sunday, which was its third day at the cash counter, and pocketed a hefty amount of INR 10.82 crore, taking its cumulative collection to a humongous INR 26.57 crore.

With such amazing figures, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has become the third highest first weekend grosser of 2018. It is behind the Deepika Padukone starrer, Padmaavat, which minted INR 114 crore over the first weekend, and Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man which collected INR 40.05 crore within three days.

The movie will recover its production cost after the collection made on Monday is added to the tally. It is expected to earn double than it total production and P&A cost before finishing its run at the cash counter.
