Super fan of the week - Erica Fernandes

A REMARKABLE rise has seen Erica Fernandes become one of the biggest stars on Indian television and in the process she has won dedicated fans around the world. One of the many admirers is Neelima Islam Nila, who follows her every move.

Eastern Eye caught up with super fan Neelima to find out more.


What connected you to Erica?

When I first saw her promo on Sony TV on February 22, 2016, I saw a girl with a unique and beautiful look, and a husky sweet voice. I started admiring her acting, following her and learnt more about her as a person.

What made you a super fan?

Her sheer talent and ability to improve on it with hard work. Also, her love for fans and appreciation for what they have done for her. I’ll always be there for her.

Tell us something super you have done for Erica?

On her birthday and on special occasions, our fandom has got together to organise charity events like sponsoring meals at orphanages and doing other such work.

What has been your most memorable moment?

My most memorable moments have been her achievements. When I meet her, it’ll be the most memorable moment, which is yet to come.

What do you love about her?

I admire how Erica is breaking stereotypes by working her way up without any help or nepotism, but her talent and hard work.

Which quality in Erica do you most relate to?

Her love for family and the way she cares for them is what I most relate to. Also, her honesty and simplicity. Like Erica, I have a brother

What is your favourite work Erica has done?

I love her first show on TV Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi the most.

Why do you love being a super fan?

I love supporting Erica and getting together fellow Ejfians to shower our love on her.

'The Brutalist' and 'Emilia Perez' lead Golden Globe wins

AT THE 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, The Brutalist, the story of a Holocaust survivor chasing the American dream, and Emilia Perez, a musical thriller about a Mexican drug lord transitioning to a woman, won the top awards of the evening.

Neil Young confirms Glastonbury performance after initial withdrawal

FOLK musician Neil Young has reversed his earlier decision to pull out of the Glastonbury music festival and will now headline the event, he announced alongside festival organisers on Friday.

Young had initially withdrawn from the festival, citing concerns over its "corporate control" through its association with the BBC. However, he later clarified that the decision was based on "an error in the information I received."
