Taapsee Pannu unanimous choice for Mithali Raj biopic?

Taapsee Pannu is known for sliding into the skin of every character that she takes up to portray on celluloid. In 2019, she was seen in three critically and commercially successful Hindi movies – Badla, Mission Mangal and Saand Ki Aankh – and each film had her in a completely different avatar.

Presently basking in the success of her recent release Saand Ki Aankh, Taapsee Pannu has some exciting projects on her platter. And if fresh reports are to be believed, the actress is about to add one more interesting film to the slate of her upcoming movies. Reportedly, Taapsee Pannu is set to sign yet another sports film after Soorma (2018), Saand Ki Aankh (2019) and Rashmi Rocket.

According to reports, the talented actress is in consideration to play a cricketer in an upcoming biopic based on iconic cricketer Mithali Raj. She has been in talks with the makers since August, and has expressed interest in stepping into Raj’s shoes for the biopic. We also hear that she is the unanimous choice for the said role.

“She seems to be the right choice for sports films. There are many other actresses playing sportswomen in other films, but they are all having issues getting into athlete mode. Taapsee, who is athletic by nature, seems to be the unanimous choice for such films,” a source close to the development told a publication. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is bankrolling the biopic. If all goes well, the movie will be entering theatres in early 2021.

Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu is awaiting the release of her much-talked about film Thappad. Directed by renowned filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, the movie also features Manoj Pahwa and Sharman Joshi in important roles and is slated to hit the marquee on 6th March, 2020.
