Takht isn’t delayed because of Kalank failure, confirms Karan Johar

Fans were really excited when Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar announced his most ambitious film Takht after helming a number of relationship dramas over the years. Boasting of an impressive line-up of actors, the period drama was set to mount the shooting floor in the month of September. However, due to some reasons, the project is taking a little time in commencing production, which led several media outlets to report that KJo has delayed Takht following the failure of Kalank (2019).

In a recent interaction with a well-known journalist, Karan Johar said that he takes complete responsibility for Kalank’s failure. “The person responsible for Kalank is me and no one else; I was the leader of that team. I think I got carried away with the film, and when Abhishek Verman had the idea of a palette that he wanted to give it and a certain vision, I was so sucked into that world that I lost complete objectivity. I gave everybody unnecessary wings to fly. That film had commendable talent with Abhishek, Alia, Varun, Sonakshi, Aditya, Sanju and Madhuri. I could have just helmed the film better,” he said.

The filmmaker went on to add that the delay in the production of his next directorial Takht has nothing to do with the failure of Kalank. “There was a reason for which I moved from September to February, as there were logistic issues, date crunching issues and long commitment from the actors. How does the stress of one film affect the other film, when both are totally different feature films? Have you asked me? I am making Takht. I have been making it since last two years and will be making it for the next two years.”

Takht stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles. The movie starts rolling in February and is expected to enter theatres towards the end of 2020.

Spider-Noir swaps superheroes for smoke-filled mystery

Marvel has spent years expanding its superhero universe, but Spider-Noir takes a noticeably different route. Instead of another glossy modern adventure, the new Prime Video series leans heavily into old-school detective storytelling, pulling viewers into a world of shadows, cigarette smoke and classic noir style.

Led by Nicolas Cage, the series trades skyscraper heroics for trench coats and private investigations. While Cage previously voiced a Spider-Man variant in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this version is not Peter Parker. Here, he plays Ben Reilly, a former masked hero who once protected New York as The Spider.
