‘Luck’, this word surely plays an important factor in many people's life. But well, there are people who don't believe in luck. They feel that whatever they have achieved in their lives is only because of hard work. Well, it is surely a debatable topic that does luck matter or it is only about hard work. Now, director Abhishek Sharma has brought this topic on the big screen via his movie The Zoya Factor.
The movie is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's book which was also titled as The Zoya Factor. The film is about Zoya Solanki (Sonam Kapoor), a girl working in an ad agency. She gets an opportunity to work with the Indian cricket team. While the Indian cricket team is losing every match, the day they have breakfast with Zoya, they win the match. The whole team, apart from Captain Nikhil Khoda (Dulquer Salmaan), starts thinking that they have won the match because of Zoya's luck. What happens next? For that, you need to watch the film...
Not many filmmakers are expert in adapting a book into a film, but Abhishek Sharma has done a very good job here. He has narrated the story very well. You know what's going to happen in the climax but it still keeps you on the edge-of-the-seat and makes you feel the excitement. Well, we won't give the whole credit to Sharma. Writers Anuja Chauhan Pradhuman Singh and Neha Sharma also deserve a mention for their brilliant screenplay and dialogues. The one-liners in the film will surely make you laugh out loud.
Talking about performances, Sonam Kapoor is fantastic as Zoya in the film. It is a tailor-made role for her and she carries it confidently. Dulquer Salmaan looks damn hot and all the females in the theatre (and men too) will drool over his good looks. Also, he has come up with a very good performance and we hope to see him in more Bollywood films. We also loved Sonam and Dulquer's chemistry in the film, it is sizzling.
Sanjay Kapoor and Sikander Kher are amazing as Zoya's father and brother respectively. The nok-jhok between Zoya and Zorawar (Kher) will remind you of your siblings. Angad Bedi also leaves a mark with his act. Abhilash Chaudhary as Shivi and Gandharv Dewan as Harry, are amazing in the film.
When it comes to music, the songs in the movie are decent. Lucky Charm and Maheroo are the best in the lot.
Overall, The Zoya Factor is an entertaining film and also leaves you with a question that what is more important, luck or hard work.
Ratings: 3.5/5
P.S. The Zoya Factor has too many brand promotions and that’s the only flaw and distraction in the film.
