Udaan sequel in the works at Phantom Films

Buzz has it that filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, whose last directorial Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018) sank at the box-office without a trace, is working on a sequel to his 2010 cult film Udaan.

Starring Rajat Barmecha and Ronit Roy in principal characters, Udaan revolved around a teenage boy who was caught watching pornography in school, leading to his expulsion. At home, he’s unable to cope up with his short-tempered father and decides to run away with his brother.

Though the movie did not set the box-office on fire upon its release almost a decade ago, it has gained cult status over the years, especially among youngsters.

Reportedly, Motwani has already completed the story and screenplay for the second instalment. The director has also locked the final cast.

If reports are to be believed, Udaan 2 will pick up nearly 10 years later from where Udaan ended. The makers have decided to retain all the important characters from the first part. The film will tell the story of all the characters and where they have reached now.

Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Rajat Barmecha and Navjot Singh have been reportedly cast to play their original characters in the second instalment.

An official announcement is awaited.
