Vardhan Puri, grandson of Amrish Puri, set for acting debut

Vardhan Puri, the grandson of veteran Bollywood actor Amrish Puri, is gearing up for his acting debut. The young actor, who is currently undergoing extensive training, has been roped in to headline a romantic thriller.

The untitled film will be bankrolled by renowned producer Jayantilal Gada. Though the makers are planning to roll the movie soon, they are yet to lock the director and the female lead for it.

Talking about how he bagged his maiden venture, Vardhan reveals that before he was signed for the romantic thriller, he was offered a period drama by Gada. However, the project fell through at a very initial stage.

“I was supposed to start off with a period-drama with Jayantilal (Gada), but for some reason that didn’t work out. He approached me later for this film which I loved and immediately gave my nod to. It’s a performance-oriented role and in terms of treatment, it will be in a space similar to Gone Girl (2014).

Before making a foray into acting, Vardhan Puri has been an assistant director on such films as Ishaqzaade (2011) Daawat-e-Ishq (2014) and Shuddh Desi Romance (2013).

The untitled film is expected to be shot in Delhi and Shimla.
