Vidya Balan’s Indira Gandhi biopic pushed ahead

According to reports, the much-awaited digital biopic on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has been put on hold because Vidya Balan, who is set to turn producer with the project apart from playing the title role in it, is presently busy with her other projects.

The biopic will be an official adaptation of renowned author Sagarika Ghose’s popular book Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister. Initially, it was supposed to be made as a full-length feature film. However, later the makers decided to develop it as a digital series.

“Vidya was busy with the shoot of NTR biopic and will be promoting it in December-January. She also begins shooting for Mission Mangal, inspired from India’s Mangalyaan mission of 2014, with Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and others this month. So, the web-series has been pushed ahead by a few months now. If everything goes well, Vidya will start the Indira biopic once she wraps this Akshay Kumar and R Balki collaboration,” a well-placed source reveals.

Vidya Balan was last seen in T-Series Films’ sleeper hit Tumhari Sulu (2018), which helped her win the prestigious Filmfare Award for the Best Actress.
