Virat Kohli Supports UK Charity’s Shoe Auction

IN collaboration with the Virat Kohli Foundation, the UK-based leprosy charity Lepra has been donated a signed pair of his trainers, which the charity will be auctioning to raise funds to help support vulnerable communities in India and Bangladesh.

The auction goes live 10 May and includes a certificate of authenticity, and photos of Virat signing the famous footwear.

As a charity supporting people affected by leprosy,  Lepra's custom-made protective footwear has a transformative effect on thousands of people’s lives every year, in remote and endemic areas of India and Bangladesh.

Lepra’s specialist footwear made from a material called multicellular rubber (MCR) helps people diagnosed with leprosy to retain their employment, livelihood, access education and healthcare, and maintain family life and friendships. Costing just £6 to produce, the sale of Kohli’s trainers aims to transform the lives of hundreds of people, by protecting their feet from injury, and preventing further disability.

It is estimated that half of men infected with the neglected tropical disease ‘lymphatic filariasis’ (LF) in childhood will develop the complication of hydrocele in adult life.
