Vishal Jethwa on playing Sunny in Mardaani 2

There is no denying the fact that when we talk about Yash Raj Films' Mardaani franchise, the first face that flashes across our eyes is of immensely talented actress Rani Mukerji, who has stunned viewers with her captivating performances in Mardaani and Mardaani 2.

But Mardaani 2, which hit the marquee on 13th December, introduced yet another gifted actor, who left a lasting impression on viewers' minds with his riveting performance. Yes, we are talking about Vishal Jethwa who plays the devilish character of Sunny in the critically acclaimed movie.

In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, when Vishal was asked how he managed to play such a dark role and if it impacted him personally, he said, "I feel every person has a secret dark side to them which perhaps they themselves are not aware of. I had to search that part in me for this role. I did a lot of workshops for it. We tried a lot of methods. I tried to relate myself to an animal, a python. I watched a couple of videos of the animal, on how he preys his victim and breaks them enough to feed on it. I had to reach that darkness within me, which was very difficult," said the actor.

He went on to add, "I used to keep an empty chair in front of me and remove all my aggression and anger on it. Once in the process, I had gone extremely aggressive and my director told me to relax. After 4-5 seconds, I came out of the character and started sobbing. That day I thought I had gone a step ahead in becoming the character."

Produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 2 is directed by Gopi Puthran. The film has been performing well at the box-office ever since its release.
