Womaniya to go to sets early next year

Phantom Films’ forthcoming venture Womaniya, starring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles, will hit the shooting floor in the month of January, 2019. The makers are planning to wrap it up by March.

Spilling some beans on the shooting schedule of the film, a source close to the development says, “The team will be leaving for Uttar Pradesh, where the story is based, for a month-long schedule. Both actresses begin prep in the next few days and they are looking to wrap up the film by March.”

The movie is being bankrolled by Anurag Kashyap, Shibasish Sarkar and Nidhi Parmar. It will be directed by debutant filmmaker Tushar Hiranandani, who has previously written a series of successful films like Dishoom (2016), ABCD 2 (2016), Ek Villain (2014), Grand Masti (2013) and Masti (2004).

Talking about the storyline of the film, Womaniya is a biopic based on the life of 86-year-old Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakashi, the world’s oldest female sharpshooters.

Womaniya might hit the silver screen by the end of 2019.
